Tech Rider

Technical requirements for Markus Mars live performances, Sonic Flow sessions, and site-responsive sound art.

Setup

  • Markus performs with electric violin, didgeridoo, voice, percussion, and live looping.
  • Minimum performance area: 2 x 2 meters / 6 x 6 feet.

Audio Outputs

  • Main audio output comes from the BOSS RC-600 loop station.
  • Preferred connection: two balanced DI channels to FOH.
  • Outputs to FOH: Stereo L/R from RC-600 main outputs.
  • Venue to provide: Stereo DI box or two DI channels for left and right output, plus two cables to connect to the RC-600.

Monitoring

  • Markus brings his own in-ear monitoring and feeds it directly from the headphone output of the loop station.
  • No stage monitor is required.
  • A quiet stage is preferred, as open microphones may capture stage sound during looping and become part of the recorded layers.

Power

  • Venue to provide one power strip with at least three available outlets at the performance area.

Venue Provides

  • PA system
  • Mixer
  • Boom mic stand
  • Stereo DI box or two DI channels
  • Chair without armrests or cajon, depending on setup
  • Clean, short-pile rug or carpet
  • Basic stage lighting or ambient lighting

Setup Time

  • Festival/concert: approx. 15 minutes.
  • Sonic Flow: approx. 45 minutes for space preparation.
  • Galleries, museums, and site-responsive work: setup time depends on the event and should be discussed in advance.

Notes

  • For Sonic Flow sessions, space preparation may include simple decoration, incense, and creating a quiet, comfortable listening environment.
  • For site-responsive performances, technical requirements may vary depending on the location, acoustics, access to power, environmental conditions, and whether natural sounds are part of the recording.
